Comfu provides the facility
Comfu gives young people from around the world a unique opportunity to create relationships with other young people, which they would otherwise never get.
Comfu is a learning community, in many ways similar to Facebook, designed for use in teaching.
On Comfu students can publish and share their work with young people from around the world. They may, for example, create groups, write news, articles and personal blogs, share photos and video.
Comfu is an educational engine. An engine can be fed with different content and different learning goals, but the 'Driver' and the exposure is the same.
But Comfu is also a social medium that provides for friendship, dialogue, collaboration, assessment and other interaction among users.
And it gives them a unique opportunity to learn how they differ and what they have in common with other young people from around the world.
The purpose of Comfu is to:
- give as many young people from around the world the possibility of knowing each other.
- allow them to create relationships across borders and cultures, through school subject work.
- strengthen the global sense of community and give young people an common experience, in spite of their different living conditions and life opportunities.
The future holds tremendous global challenges, and it is more important than ever to clothe the world's young people, for global interaction and collaboration.
IT and recruitment to the Internet is exploding in developing countries and the growing audience of young Web users, strengthens the possibility of intercultural cooperation and understanding, through the Internet.
Target group
Students from classes 8-10 from schools with Internet connection in the entire world.
Vision
- Integrating Comfu as a natural part of learning in thousands of schools across the world.
- Making a difference for thousands young people from around the world by nuance to their views of the outside world - and themselves
- To expand with more members and schools each year.
- Making Comfu globally through parallel projects on the most widely spoken languages: English, Spanish, Chinese.
History
Comfu concept has been developed over the years, through international Web projects, where students from many countries has participated and where lots of experience has been gained, in how to use social media in education.
In September 2009 Comfu.org started up with support from Tips & Lottery funds and the Danish UNESCO aps school network.
Young people from 15 different countries and 6 continents as diverse as, for example, Nepal, Norway, Lebanon, Columbia, South Africa, Serbia and Denmark pounced on the project.
The topic was climate change and it is their passion and enthusiasm of this emerging form of teaching, who envisages that Comfu continued and expanded to involve many more schools and young people across the globe.
Comfu is funded until April 2010.
